A Beach Scene

Sometimes I feel reluctant to paint a landscape from a photo. Especially one that isn’t my own. So I decided to paint from my imagination. I plan to do more imagined scenes since it forced me to recall techniques I’ve used in the past more naturally, if that makes sense.

I started with the clouds using a blue (prussian and ultramarine) to create the cloud shapes in the negative.
Then it took me ages to decide what would be under the clouds but finally decided on a beachy scene in the end.
I had to focus so hard to keep it simple. I really like the idea of using as few brush strokes or spots of colour as possible and when it works out it feels super. ^_^
